Banking and Finance Science
Department Description:
The department of Finance and Banking is the fifth department of the college of commerce since its establishment. It started accepting students for the year of 2012 – 2013, and now it has four stages (first, second, third and fourth).
This department accepts students who finish high school through the student’s admission center “Zanko Line” according to its yearly plan. At the present, the Department of Finance and Banking has 132 students for all stages.Also, for the year (2013 – 2014) it has accepted the highest degree as the other departments of the college.
Department Vision:
Recently, Kurdistan Regional Government’s economic growth has been growing rapidly in majority of its sectors; these sectors need the banking services and specialists in banking sector. This led to encourage University of Sulaimani / College of Commerce to open this department with a perfect program and also having a group of staff and lectures.
Department Mission:
The main goal of the department of financial and banking sciences is to train and develop students who are qualified to work in the banking industry (commercial bank, investment bank, central bank and so on), utilizing a program that offers both a top-notch undergraduate education and a great basic technique.
Learning Outcomes at Department:
- create students who have capable to work in banking sector (commercial bank, investment bank, central bank and so on) in KRG.
- Academically inform students about the banking system and its impact on society anddifferent sectors.
- Build up students’ ability in term of accounting, economic, and administrating of financial and banking institutions.
- During summer courses in KRG’s banks and other institutions, our students will get more experience in term of how these governmental institutions work.
- Apply knowledge of business concepts and functions in an integrated manner.

The duration of study at the International commerce department is 4 academic years (8 semesters) full-time study.
